"This house is great because of it’s cozy, enclosed patio. I can lay in the sun and chase tennis balls in my dreams after a walk to The Railyard, or even to the Santa Fe Plaza."

Detailed Description:
Situated in West Guadalupe, one of our most treasured, historical neighborhoods, “Casa Prado” is only blocks from Santa Fe’s famed Railyard district and an equally pleasant, 10 minute walk to the Plaza. Take off on foot down the Santa Fe River only one block from your house and stroll to the centuries old Guadalupe Church with a magnificent statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe gracing the river walk. This marks the beginning of the Railyard district. The vibrant, recently restored Railyard attracts visitors and locals alike, where you can enjoy the farmer’s market. Towards the Plaza, you can partake in the museums, restaurants, parks, live music (Vanessie’s Piano Bar is only two blocks away), galleries, and so much more. The Prado home, first constructed in the 1920’s, is a spacious 1,300 square feet adobe with a lovely yard with an aspen grove and dry streambed, hence the name, “Prado” meaning meadow. Everything about this adobe home maintains its authentic character. The home has been modernized with heat and air conditioning, with two gas burning fireplace stoves in the living room and in the kitchen, adding ambiance. The bedroom has a king bed and a Kiva fireplace, perfect for a romantic vacation, and a walk-in closet. The bathroom has an old-fashioned claw foot bath tub as well as a walk-in shower. The kitchen is spacious with a decorative antique stove as well as modern gas stove. All the rooms are sunny and spacious. At the entry you can enjoy the expansive covered “portál” with a full size outdoor dining table, BBQ, and a view of the aspen trees with the Santa Fe mountains in the distance. Stay shaded under the portal on hot summer days, protected while watching the rain and cloud storms. You will feel you are in Eden and may not want to leave the restful space, but you would be missing the fully enclosed, separate private & secure patio in the back with Jacuzzi hot tub and sitting area, perfect as well for those traveling with pets.

We had an excellent time at Wendy's place. The place is tidy and well-furnished. All the important details for places to put toiletries, room for hanging clothing (the walk-in closet is very roomy!), etc. were taken care of. The hot tub was a great plus and quite private. While we did not have our dogs with us on this trip, the back patio seemed like it would be secure for them and safe as long as the weather was not too hot. The kitchen has all of the essentials and plenty of counter space (everything I really needed to cook a meal), though it did not have a non-stick pan that I could locate (has a standard pan though). Everything needed for preparing coffee is available. It is about 0.7 miles to the Plaza, a 10-15 minute walk depending on your pace. I enjoyed jogging from the place along the sidewalk/trails of the Santa Fe River park, which is just one small block away. The immediate neighborhood is not particularly gentrified (yet), so has a more "genuine" Santa Fe feel.

Prado is a beautiful, historic home with all the modern amenities you want in an authentic adobe. It is located in a quiet neighborhood that is close to many restaurants and attractions, as well as the plaza downtown. We purposely came at a colder time of year and found the home was very comfortable with its two thermostat controlled Franklin heaters. There is also a kiva fireplace in the king bedroom but it stayed so warm that we never used it. The home is beautifully landscaped and has a private walled patio with hot tub. Again, we did not use it due to the colder weather but can imagine it would be perfect in the summer. The kitchen has very nice full size appliances and many kinds of smaller appliances and cooking devices. A full sized washer and dryer are located in the attached garage. There is an easily accessible parking spot off the street if you have a vehicle. We were very comfortable for a 9-night stay and would not hesitate to book this property again.

Freestanding, charming adobe, with tons of character! Wendy and her team were very attentive and excellent in communicating. Love the outside areas! Off-street parking was nice. Washer and Dryer in attached garage were very helpful! Stove fireplace in living room really generates some heat. So cozy! Loved the offset kitchen in the evening to unwind with a complementary glass of wine and chips while my children slept in comfort in the living room. Walking distance (mind you with a double stroller) from the Railyard (farmer's market) and Sprouts. Perfect!

We are an active family - 2 adults and 2 kiddos, ages 1 and 4. This house had a great layout for us. Super comfy, large pullout couch bed + plenty of room for baby's pack n play. The bedroom was down a long hallway, so great separation, while all being on same level. The home is nicely furnished with quality Southwestern decor. The kitchen is large and conveniently located off the living area, the bathroom was clean and central, and outdoor spaces were private, spacious, and well kept. The location was perfect for us - we walked everywhere, several miles each day we were there. Downtown/plaza is 10 minutes down the street, Railyard is a 10 minute walk in another direction. We used our car once to drive to Taos the entire 4 days we were there. We recommend this home and thank TwoCasitas for being so responsive. Molly Oct. 2016

The house had the majority of the amenities that we needed. It was within walking distance of the historic downtown plaza area as well. Parking space on property allowed us to have a rental car making day trips outside of Santa Fe very easy. Enjoyed the hot tub and its privacy. The bed was a bit on the firm side however which is fine for somebody who likes a firm bed. Would definitely recommend it to a friend. Would also consider staying there again in the future. We loved all the patio space and the hot tub! The location also worked really well for us, the house is on a street that leads directly to the Plaza, so getting around was really easy. Staff was friendly and checked on us a couple times during our stay. Definitely recommend. Tasha Sept 2016

This is a newly renovated casita located in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the plaza. The place was very bright and clean. Upon arrival (self check-in was easy), we found a nice bottle of wine, tortilla chips and green chile salsa that were left for us as a welcoming gift. It's a nice touch that made us feel at home right away. The house is very spacious with a fully-equipped kitchen, a nice living area, one bedroom with a comfortable King-sized bed and wonderful outdoor areas - both in front and in back- for relaxing. There's even a hot tub. We walked to the plaza every day; even though it's several blocks, it didn't take long at all. I would definitely recommend this property and Two Casitas to anyone interested in visiting Santa Fe. Dory July 2016

We stayed here in June and the owners were just finishing up new improvements. My favorite features were: 1. location - 10 min walk to downtown OR the railyard (we prefer to walk and really see the town); 2. big covered porch (portal) with full size dining table facing the yard and aspen trees sunrise coffee, and afternoon cocktails; 3. hot tub with private patio!; 4. nice bathroom with old fashioned claw foot bathtub (for her) and tiled shower (for me); 5. king size bed with kiva fireplace and walkin closet. The house was plenty big for us - more than we needed. We love StaFe! The restaurants are the best yet reasonable: we walked to Clafoutis (French bakery/breakfast), Pizzeria da Lino, D42, Vanessie's (piano bar), and Bouche (fine French dining). Going back soon for more! Gordon Aug, 2016
